What is Kerala murukku?

Kerala murukku is a crunchy, spiral-shaped snack made mainly from rice flour, fried until golden and eaten with tea. In Malayalam homes it is often simply called ari murukku, meaning rice murukku.

The name comes from the Tamil word for "twisting", which describes its coiled shape, and the snack is typically made from rice flour and urad dal flour. It is especially common across South India, including Kerala, where every region has its own version. Ours is the Palakkad style, from Karippode, a village with a long connection to murukku-making.

Which Kerala murukku flavours can I order?

We make five murukku flavours, each packed in 200 g packets at ₹75. You can take all nine packets of one flavour or mix them with our kuzhalappam, thattu vada and cheeda.

What oil is the murukku fried in?

We fry in Lily Refined Palmolein Oil, and the oil is changed for every batch, never topped up or reused. We do it so our murukku tastes clean and light, never heavy or stale.

Lily is a brand of Bunge India Private Limited; we name it only to tell you what we cook with. You can read more in the oil section on our home page.

How much does Kerala murukku cost with delivery?

Each 200 g packet is ₹75, and a Happiness Box holds 9 packets, so a box costs ₹675. Delivery is free within Kerala, ₹100 to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and ₹180 to the rest of India.

The delivery charge is worked out from your PIN code, and you see the full total before you pay. Payment is by UPI, card or net banking through Razorpay.

Can I get Kerala murukku delivered outside Kerala?

Yes. We send murukku anywhere in India by India Post, usually dispatching within 1–2 working days of payment.

After dispatch it typically takes 2–4 working days within Kerala, 3–5 to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and 5–8 to most other states. Our Shipping & Delivery policy has the full list. For orders outside India, choose International order and message us on WhatsApp for a shipping quote.

How long does murukku stay crisp?

Every packet carries its best-before date, and the murukku is at its best well within it. Once a packet is open, move what's left into an airtight container and keep it somewhere cool and dry.

Moisture is what turns murukku soft, so don't leave an open packet near the stove or in a humid room.

Will the murukku break in the post?

A few broken pieces are normal when crisp murukku travels by post, and we pack every box with that in mind. If a packet arrives badly crushed, torn or spoiled, send us photos within 48 hours and we'll replace or refund it.

The details are in our Refund & Cancellation policy.

Can I mix murukku with other Kerala snacks in one box?

Yes. A Happiness Box is any 9 packets in any mix, so you can pair murukku with kozhalappam (kuzhalappam), sweet kozhalappam, thattu vada and cheeda.

A mixed box also makes an easy gift for family living outside Kerala: just enter their address and PIN code when you order.

How do I order Kerala murukku?

Pick your flavours, fill a Happiness Box with 9 packets, and pay online by UPI, card or net banking. We then make and send your box fresh from Palakkad, usually within 1–2 working days.
