Kuzhalappam, the crisp rolled Kerala snack
Kuzhalappam — also spelt kozhalappam — is the rolled, tube-shaped Kerala snack behind the "ROLLS" in RINGS & ROLLS®. We make it fresh at our unit in Karippode, Palakkad, in two versions, savoury and sweet, at 200 g for ₹75 a packet.
What is kuzhalappam?
Kuzhalappam is a thin, crisp Kerala snack made from rice flour, rolled into a hollow tube and fried. Its name comes from kuzhal, the Malayalam word for a pipe or flute, because of that tube shape.
It is one of the crunchy traditional snacks of Kerala, sold alongside banana chips in snack shops across the state. A traditional recipe uses raw rice flour as its base, seasoned and rolled by hand around a small rod or finger.
Is kuzhalappam sweet or savoury?
It can be either, and we make both. Our Kozhalappam is the classic savoury version, and our Sweet Kozhalappam is the same rolled snack with a sugar-dusted finish.
| Kuzhalappam | What it tastes like | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Kozhalappam | Light, flaky and savoury | Evening tea, snack platters |
| Sweet Kozhalappam | The same crisp roll with a sugar-dusted finish | Children, sweet-tooth snackers, festive boxes |

Is it spelt kuzhalappam or kozhalappam?
Both spellings are used for the same snack: kuzhalappam is closer to the Malayalam, and kozhalappam is how it's often written on packets, including ours. Whichever you search for, it's this rolled rice snack.

How much does kuzhalappam cost with delivery?
Each 200 g packet is ₹75, and a Happiness Box holds any 9 packets, so a box costs ₹675. Delivery is free in Kerala, ₹100 to other South Indian states and ₹180 to the rest of India.
You can fill the box with kuzhalappam alone or mix it with our murukku, thattu vada and cheeda. The full total, including delivery, is shown before you pay.
Can I get kuzhalappam delivered outside Kerala?
Yes, we send kuzhalappam anywhere in India by India Post. Orders are usually dispatched within 1–2 working days of payment.
Typical delivery is 2–4 working days within Kerala and 5–8 to most other states; see our Shipping & Delivery policy for every region. Kuzhalappam is delicate, so a few broken rolls in transit are normal, and badly damaged packets are covered by our Refund policy.
How do I keep kuzhalappam crisp?
Eat it before the best-before date printed on the packet, and once opened, keep it in an airtight container somewhere cool and dry. Moisture is what makes it go soft.
How do I order kuzhalappam?
Choose your packets, fill a Happiness Box with 9 of them and pay online by UPI, card or net banking. We make and send your box fresh from Palakkad.
